Gordon Jeffrey

Gordon Jeffrey

Gordon was one of the founding partners of Aqualife Services and has been leading the company since 1996. He spent the first four years as a full-time vaccinator and Team Leader and was an occasional vaccinator until 2008 after which time his role as Managing Director, and then Chief Executive, became full time.

He had a varied career prior to Aqualife with time spent in the Army as a computer programmer and before that as a sheep farmer on the Isle of Skye.

Gordon is very ambitious for the company and is very proud of all that’s been achieved since humble beginnings in 1996. Aquaculture is a great, growing industry and he is focused on Aqualife prospering with it.

Out of work: His interests outside work include hill walking, gardening and football.

Ronnie Soutar

Head of Fish Health and Welfare

Ronnie  Soutar

Ronnie became one of the first company vets in Scottish aquaculture when he joined Golden Sea Produce back in 1990. The link between fish welfare, productivity and profitability developed his interest in management and led to a role as Hydro Seafood’s Production Manager for Scotland.

After a time away from aquaculture, owning and running a group of veterinary practices in Inverness and then as Director of Veterinary Services for the University of Edinburgh, Ronnie joined Aqualife in January 2014 with a real enthusiasm for the company’s key role in keeping farmed fish healthy, which underpins the sustainable development of global aquaculture.

Alongside his role in Aqualife, Ronnie is a Vice-Chair of the Scottish SPCA and President of the Fish Veterinary Society.

Out of work: Ronnie lives in his native Fife with wife Fiona, a very small flock of pedigree Bluefaced Leicester sheep and four horses, which take up most of his leisure time.

Phil Brown

Head of Innovation

Phil Brown

Phil has been passionate about fish since his early childhood days which he spent fishing in Glen Urquhart near Inverness. This passion took him to Stirling University where he studied for his degree in Biology specialising in Aquaculture.

His first appointment in Aquaculture was in 1991 with Strathaird Farms Ltd where he quickly became a Marine Site Manager and vaccinated his first fish in 1993.

Phil started working for Aqualife in 1998 as a vaccinator and Team Leader and has worked for the company ever since. In 2011 Phil moved from Operations Manager, a role he held for 6 years, to Technical Director. This move allowed Phil to spend more time putting his experience and ideas for vaccinating and aquaculture into practice. In 2013 Phil received approved trainer status from LANTRA for Aqualife's Fish Vaccination course.

Out of work: Phil is still a keen fisherman and can often be found at the weekend, rod in hand, on the beaches of Fife.

Robert Wittmann

Head of Operations

Robert Wittmann

Robert has a military background and specialises in planning, procedures, training and workforce management. He is passionate about providing first class customer service ensuring our workforce provide a quality, professional and world class vaccination process.

Robert has recently become a LANTRA Instructor and is studying for a Diploma in Logistics.

Out of work: When not on company duty, Robert can be found on the side lines watching his son playing football or enjoying family time with his daughter.

Kathy Taylor

Territory Manager

Kathy Taylor

Kathy became part of our management team when Aqualife merged with Salmovac (which she owned) in 2015. Her focus is now on business development and customer relations, and her territory is the world outside Norway!
Alongside her deep understanding of the practicalities of vaccination, Kathy is passionate about quality and has taken a leading role in keeping our focus on constantly checking and improving every element of what we do.
Outside work, Kathy is often to be found in a skiff. These traditional Scottish wooden boats have had a real revival in recent years and Kathy is a leading member of the local Coastal Rowing team. Look out for her in the Moray Firth or even further afield!

Roar Tomassen

Country Manager, Norway

Roar joined us in the summer of 2016. Having attended university in the USA, he is a proud Norwegian with a very international outlook.
Roar is a Marketing professional – he has even taught the subject –and has broad experience in the aquaculture and pharmaceutical industries. His background in IntraFish Media AS, MSD Animal Health and BWL Environment AS makes him the ideal person to lead Aqualife’s Norwegian business.
His time in the USA has left Roar with a passion for classic American automobiles. That, and a very hands-on approach to house maintenance, fills up any spare time he gets!

Tonje Paterson

Operations Assistant

Tonje Paterson

Tonje came to Aqualife as Operations Assistant in November 2011. In her role she is responsible for all travel and accommodation bookings for our teams in the field. As Tonje is originally from Norway she communicates effortlessly with clients and third parties to make sure all operational jobs run smoothly as well as acting as a translator for other departments.

Before joining the Aqualife team Tonje had several years’ experience in the customer service sector and has completed a Bachelor Degree in Tourism from Norway.

Out of work: Tonje can be found spending quality time with her daughter, reading a good book, or, to her husband’s dismay, shopping.
